Possible police statement: My mother and I were driving along the Tocumwal-Benalla Rd at dusk. I had pulled over to the side of the road to take a photograph. My camera was set up on a tripod near the rear of the car with my mother sitting in the passenger seat. A utility vehicle drove past, made a U-turn and pulled up behind my car. The driver was male, in his late 40s. He walked towards me and asked what I was doing. He was wearing a Water Board uniform jumper, so I trusted him.
I explained that I was taking a photograph of the road. He wanted to show me his smart phone photographs of sunsets. I was polite and asked about one unusual photograph of a dark swampy landscape. He told me that it was a swamp near Stanhope and that he went there often. Then he seemed to notice that I was not alone. He suddenly decided to leave and drove off after making another fast U-turn. After he left I packed up my camera and we continued on our journey.
